DeTRUMPification

All the world’s his stage from the moment he salutes. Wait! By custom only those who served in the military have the right to salute. Trump’s soft salute lacks the snap of someone without bone spurs, his draft dodger doctor excuse for avoiding Vietnam. It’s all bombast, the little man behind the curtain. But what a show—filled with sound and fury and no intermission.

Trump is an abstraction in his red, white and blue power costume. It [yes, ultimate insult, leave “it”] looks like the real thing but he’s messing up his lines. Unless you name the Kennedy Center after me I’ll West Wing-it. The West Wing used to be the First Lady’s, the women’s wing. The president will not share his throne. His interchangeable partners flow around him like do-si-do dancers. Presented as a businessman his patent consistency is the six bankruptcies carried into his two-term head of state financial decline. Whoever believed one could tank America’s first world’s 250-year credit in just six years?
The Prime Minister of Canada called Trump “the king of bankruptcies.” Unfortunately for America the president with his reverse Midas touch has glommed his bad luck onto the national treasury.
“I Have Made Peace”
“While others have spoken of peace I have made peace,” Trump professed to the United Nations General Assembly (9/22/2026). Putin has his ongoing “special military operation” in Ukraine since the seizure of Crimea in 2014. “War” is not happening when it’s called something else. There are 65 active conflicts on Earth today not to mention the existential contest for the future called Climate Change.
Trump has engaged in foreign interventions in Iran, Yemen, Somalia, Nigeria, Syria, Iraq, Venezuela and on fishermen in the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific. Is he afraid of a no AUMF (Authorization for Use of Military Force) congressional vote or is he afraid of black and brown people? A classic bully, Trump orders his minions to attack those who threaten him. Internationally America is losing all our friends except Israel. Israel!?—the Hitler of Gaza. Everything Hitler did was “legal.”
What is WRONG with Trump?
Trump’s mother was absent with illness after her last pregnancy when he was two years old, a crucial time for toddlers. His father taught him that a “killer” is a winner, opposite a loser. When he was 13, the charmless youth was exiled to New York Military Academy (north of West Point on the Hudson), a very small, expensive, so-so academic all-boys (at that time) boarding college-prep school, grades 7-12. He reportedly loved it and more-or-less majored in “leadership” and sports. One Trump biographer called his military school “a five-year lesson on how to be a bully.” He was not a “popular” cadet. In summer when he was home from school Trump’s mother often vacationed in her Scottish homeland.
All three of Trump’s wives were fashion models. Appearance is primary in his social/business world just as verbal communication has priority over paperwork. Trump had three children with his first wife and one each with wives two and three; he now has 11 grandchildren. Don Jr. has five children with his first wife; Ivanka, three children; Eric, two; and Tiffany, one. The greater family reportedly convenes in available numbers for sporting or political events.
As if three wives, five kids, and 11 grandchildren weren’t sufficient legacy Trump is pursuing more concrete memorials like the Kennedy Performing Arts Center, an outsized Arc de Triomph and golf clubs and Trump towers in vacation spots. Trump seems to be locking-in his legacy as mortality looms. However, buildings and landscapes do change names like the Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary in St. Paul, named for the late environmental congressman, now called Wakan Tipi, Dakota for sacred habitation or home.
Meanwhile Trump has installed his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, previously a millionaire developer with a father imprisoned for illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion and witness tampering, now a billionaire United States Special Envoy for Peace—in the highest level of international money and politics.
Envoy for “peace?” The U.S. is at war. Russia is also at war. The “great powers” are trashing the Earth when the universal battle is saving the planet from runaway global heating.
Antiphrasis
Antiphrasis means saying the opposite of what is meant.
How did the narcissist Donald J. Trump get elected, move into the White House that he called “a dump,” shred the Constitution, cow the legislature, pack the Supreme Court and survive three assassination attempts? Unplug Trump who has become a rogue Ai agent.
